Taking a successful 50-year-old quality Australian brand, with over 30 retail stores nationally, into the digital age was an exciting prospect. The challenge was how to take the brand personality we had developed for Aquila over the past decade and translate it into a truly full-service online store offering.
Harnessing the power of one of the world's most powerful e-commerce platforms – Magento – we were able to structure a fully capable store that scales with Aquila's growth and is flexible enough to let the brand personality shine through. The online store includes industry-leading product cataloging, secure payments and customer order management alongside strong online design, functionality and usability for the user.
In support of the online store, a social marketing strategy was developed for Aquila. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and LinkedIn have been successfully used to encourage consumer engagement with the brand and help drive website traffic. Aquila has also built a strong VIP following that is regularly presented with exclusive offers via EDMs to drive online and retail store sales.
The resulting online user experience is fluid and easy to navigate. Traffic to the site has doubled in 12 months, page views have tripled and online business has grown steadily to over 600 transactions in the first year. Social following and VIP membership are also on the rise.
Aquila now has a solid digital foundation to support its retail stores and take the brand into the future.
