5 successful social media strategies
1. Research your competitors and what else is happening in your industry. Check the Facebook and Twitter pages of your industry leaders – this will provide key information about what to do and what not to do.
2. Create a 12-month content plan and categorize your posts. For example, on Mondays always post about a new initiative in your industry, on Tuesday post a customer testimonial and on Wednesday post about one of your products. You will most probably need to reassess down the track and consider your analytics: some days fans may respond better than others.
3. Have clear and achievable objectives. For example, reaching a certain number of fans and achieving a certain level of engagement after 12 months will assist measuring your success.
4. Make your content dynamic, relevant and mix it up. Think of your fans or followers as people you are about to have a conversation with. For example, what would they find interesting? Where would you find them on Fridays at midday?
5. Remember to keep it clear and simple – shorter posts are received better than longer ones. Try to keep it to one or two sentences on Facebook.
